Composite fillings

Composite fillings are tooth-colored restorations commonly used to repair cavities or minor tooth damage. After the decayed or weakened area is removed, the composite material is shaped and bonded to the tooth. This helps restore the tooth while blending with the surrounding smile.

Dental crowns

A dental crown covers and protects a tooth when a filling is not enough. Crowns may be recommended for teeth with larger fractures, significant decay, worn enamel, or after root canal treatment. A crown can also improve the shape or appearance of a tooth when clinically appropriate.

CEREC same-day crowns and restorations

Dr. Baker is a Certified CEREC Same-Day Dentist. With digital imaging and CAD/CAM design, CEREC can be used to create selected crowns and restorations in the office when clinically appropriate.

CEREC may help reduce the need for temporary crowns or extra visits in selected cases, but the recommended timeline depends on the tooth, restoration type, and treatment plan.

Crown materials

Dr. Baker focuses on aesthetic, biocompatible materials that preserve a natural appearance. Metal-free all-ceramic and all-porcelain crowns are commonly used with the CEREC system because they can mirror the shade and light-reflecting qualities of natural enamel.

Ceramic-on-metal, also called porcelain-fused-to-metal, may be considered when specialized structural reinforcement is needed for back teeth under heavier biting pressure. Dr. Baker will evaluate your bite, tooth location, and long-term needs before recommending a material.
